Britons continue to put cash away as lockdown restrictions are eased

August 2021

Recent data has shown that Britons are still putting their cash away into savings accounts despite social restrictions easing, albeit the amount being saved is 29% less than that in March 2021. More people have begun to spend money on eating out and shopping as social restrictions have eased but savings pots are reported to still be on the rise by an average of 17% over the period. Many Britons have grown higher than usual savings pots during the pandemic and the data looks to suggest they intend to continue to do so in the near-term.
